A journey of renewal and strategic improvement (Mount Alvernia College)
Mount Alvernia College has been on a journey of renewal and strategic improvement over the past 10 years. As part of this journey, a specific focus on attracting, recruiting and supporting effective and innovative educators has been a key priority. This has been evidenced through school wide approaches to staff development that work to enhance teacher practice and sustain leadership development within the organisation. These practices have included a specific mentoring program for aspiring middle leaders, the development of an Enhancing Teacher Practice Framework to develop reflective practice and an observational culture, the creation of an onsite Professional Learning Centre, School based conferences and the establishment of Professional Learning Teams.
This presentation will be by the College Principal Dr Kerrie Tuite and Deputy Principals Annette Butterworth and Daniel Crump. The presentation will be an opportunity to share the process of this "innovation in the field" and reflect on the journey to date.

What do we stand for? Living our Mission Statement with Collective Commitments (Tonya Parham and Dan Smith)
At RIS we have spent this school year working with our Schoolwide Instructional Leadership Team (our k-12 HoDs) to bring our Mission and Vision into action through creating Collective Commitments.
This powerful work has created a shared understanding of our values and intentions in educating the children in our care.
Our team will share the process through which we developed these collective commitments, and are now in the process of implementation.
As we move forward into the future increasingly our teachers want a clear purpose. That clear sense of purpose provides teachers the environment they are seeking, which in turn means they are more productive, loyal, and cost the school less over the long term
This clarity also makes it easier to create new strategies and improve the allocation of resources, budgets, and time.

Project Development  (Harbour School - Ashley Ault)
THS has promoted itself as an innovative and inclusive school where authentic learning takes a front seat. Stakeholders who are sometimes opposed to this idea often question sustainability, authenticity, bandwidth and really 'are the benefits worth the time it and effort it takes to plan and implement these projects and units of study?'. This presentation will demonstrate the key skills, standards, 21st Century learning standards and lifelong learning that occurs when school vision meets classroom. The presentation will also highlight challenges, the need of administrative support, as well as school community involvement. We will also explore inclusivity, support of all students and the resources necessary to create a non-traditional, project based, authentic learning environment.
